Small steps & significant changes

Namaste!

I’ve been sharing my experiences with the 21-day yoga challenge and mentioned that I would journal here daily.

If you’ve been following along, you probably noticed I haven’t posted for the past four days. I apologize for that.

I was dealing with a health issue that left me physically and mentally drained. Despite that, I continued practising yoga. But there was another reason I didn’t journal.

In my last post, I mentioned starting to read and reflect on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. When I began, I hit a roadblock. The very first sutra reads:

अथ योगानुशासनम्
atha yoganushasanam

(“Now, the discipline of yoga begins.”)

If you think the keyword here is yoga, then sorry. It’s not. The keywords here are now and discipline.

That stopped me in my tracks. It filled me with fear—fear of what ifs:

  • What if I commit to this and can’t follow through?
  • What if it’s too much to handle?
  • What if I stray from discipline?
  • What if I share my vulnerabilities and someone takes advantage of them?
  • What if I’m not true to my words?
  • What if I’m only doing this for validation?
  • What if I fail?

These questions spiralled into so many more. So, I paused to reflect. As I’ve shared before, these posts are written intuitively, not planned.

I needed to ensure that my intentions were genuine—that I wasn’t doing this on a whim or for validation.

After taking time to reflect, here’s what I realized:

  • I’m doing this for myself.
  • I’m not here for validation.
  • Writing helps me stay accountable to myself. Posting it online is an added accountability factor.
  • This is my way of processing life and tracking my growth over time.
  • I’m here to learn, unlearn, and embrace my flaws. I give myself permission to fail and accept myself as I am.
  • My goal is to work on myself and become a better version of who I am.

And if, in sharing this journey, someone else finds inspiration or learns something, that’s a beautiful bonus.

Today, I’m proud to share that I’ve completed 14 days of the 21-day yoga challenge by Habuild. Here’s to continuing this journey — one day at a time!

Here’s a quick recap of the last four days:

  • Day 10 focused on the upper body.
  • Day 11 was all about core strength and laughter yoga.
  • Day 12 emphasized flexibility and mobility.
  • Day 13 centered on stamina and meditation.

Today, being Sunday, we had a special session on The Secret of Consistency. It was so insightful that it deserves a post of its own — stay tuned for that!

After two weeks of practising yoga, here’s what I’ve noticed so far:

  • Reduced need for a noon nap.
  • Decreased hunger and cravings (though not entirely gone).
  • Developing the habit of showing up and prioritizing my health.
  • Improved focus and concentration.

If you want to give it a try, at least for the next 7 days, click here. I promise it’s worth your time.

As for my journey of reading and reflecting on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, I’ve decided to explore it as a separate series. It deserves a deeper and more focused approach. Stay tuned!

Stay true to yourself, and stay awesome!
